FCHS Boys Basketball Team in Quarantine
ROCKY MOUNT – The Franklin County Boys Varsity Basketball team is in quarantine, Athletic Director Crystal Worley confirmed to Cable 12 Sunday.
No other information has been officially announced as of this writing, including why the quarantine was issued or how long it is in effect for.
Over the past week, the boys varsity team has won two games, including a nail biter against James River 70-67 Saturday, January 16. The boys played Roanoke Catholic January 14 and won 49-46. Cable 12 covered both games, which were played in the Central Gym.
Both JV and Varsity games scheduled for January 19, 22, and 23rd have been postponed, Worley announced Sunday.
This past week’s games, including the Eagle Varsity Girls home games were streamed live and are available on the Cable 12 Facebook Page. The Roanoke Catholic game is embedded at the bottom of this page.
Players off the court were spaced apart six feet in the gym and wearing masks while not playing. Only media, a select number of cheerleaders, officials, coaches, and administration were allowed in the central gym. Everyone entering the gym had to have their temperature taken by a scanning device set up at the main entrance. The school’s principal, John Crutchfield said the school hopes to add a few more devices for sporting events in the near future.
This is a developing story. Stay with Cable 12 for more information.
