Suspect Sought in Axton Shooting
AXTON – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says they are looking for the suspect in a shooting Saturday that left an Axton man injured.
The victim, Timothy Jarod Mitchell, 31, was shot in the arm, chest, and buttocks outside of his home in the 700 block of Mitchell Road in Axton, investigators say.
Deputies were called to the scene at 9:35 p.m. They found Mitchell alert and coherent. He was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Health for treatment of his injuries.
Mitchell told investigators he was outside of his home when a black man wearing a mask approached him and shot him numerous times.
White powder, believed to be drugs, was found in the area of the shooting, investigators say.
