Franklin Co. NAACP Holds Press Conference, Community Q & A on Race Issues, COVID-19, Schools
ROCKY MOUNT – The Franklin County chapter of the NAACP hosted a multi-agency press conference Thursday at the Pigg River Community Center.
The Franklin County chapter president Walter Lawson hosted the meeting. The Roanoke Valley NAACP was also in attendance. Mark Church, Superintendent of Franklin County Public Schools and Nancy Bell with the West Piedmont District of the Virginia Department of Health also spoke and answered questions from local Black Lives Matter activists.
General information from how local schools will reopen to the state of COVID-19 cases was discussed. Specific topics and questions pertaining to challenges minorities face locally were also addressed.
