Bassett Man Arrested, Confesses to Three Franklin Co. Burglaries
FRANKLIN COUNTY – A Bassett man faces grand larceny and burglary charges after Franklin County investigators say he confessed to three burglaries, one dating back to 2018.
Curtis Eugene Sparks, Jr., 34, is charged with three counts of felony burglary and three counts of felony grand larceny, according to Captain Phillip Young with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies and investigators with the Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Department began investigating two burglaries on July 3 on Davis Mill Road and on Menefee Road. Checks, tools, a camera, gun safe and money were taken. On the same day, the Rocky Mount Police Department reported a man trying to cash checks at a town bank belonging to one of the burglary victims.
Two days later on July 5, Henry County authorities said they had a suspect in custody on charges there, and they believed he had information on the Franklin County burglaries as well.
Sparks confessed to the two July 3 burglaries and also to a December 19, 2018 burglary on Ruritan Road in Franklin County.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible, Young says.
