Bruce L. Bowman, Sr.

Bruce L. Bowman, Sr., age 83 of Rocky Mount was born on July 29, 1935 and passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019. Bruce has gone to be with his true love, Ellen and his faithful dog, Buttons in heaven. Bruce and Ellen owned and operated Bowman’s welding in Franklin County, Virginia for 39 years and was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen Bowman; son, Garrett La Franco; and his parents, George and Mildred Bowman. Surviving are his children, Bruce Bowman, Jr., Jeff Bowman and wife Lynne; Barbara Board and husband Richard; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Robert Barnwell and the entire Intrepid Home Health group; and also to the VA Hospital and the Veteran’s Care Center for their care and concern. Graveside services will be conducted from Mountain View Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Mr. Greg Papenfus officiating. His family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
