18th Annual Ramble Weekend is May 17-19
FRANKLIN COUNTY – Franklin County Parks and Recreation are staying busy getting ready for the 18th annual Ramble Weekend May 17, 18, and May 19.
The event kicks off Friday evening, May 17 with the Blackwater Blackout. Floaters will put in at Pro Line Trailers on the Blackwater River. Registration begins at 5 p.m. There will be a shuttle to bring floaters back at the end of the float. There will also be live music Alan Messenger & His Fine Superlatives at Blackwater Live.
The Blackwater Blackout is a slow float. Floaters bring glow sticks and lights to use along the river.
The Pigg River Ramble is Saturday, May 18. There is a race and float. Participants will put in at Waid Park and take out at Lynch Park on the Pigg River at the bottom of Scuffling Hill.
This year, there will also be a “mini ramble” for first-time floaters to put in and take out at Waid Park.
Registration Saturday for the Ramble begins at 11 a.m. at Waid Park.
A 5-K race, the Pigg River Rumble, begins at 9 a.m.
Sunday is the Breakfast on the Blackwater with food served by the Hub Restaurant. Check in is at 8:30 a.m.
The cost for each event is $20. The weekend package for everything is $40. Ages 12 and under is $5 per event. F
