Fire Spreads to Five Structures in the Oak Level Area

OAK LEVEL – Multiple units from responded to a fire that quickly spread to multiple structures near the Franklin / Bedford County line Monday (March 18).

The fire was close to where a separate fire burned the Short home in Collinsville just weeks prior.

Units from Fork Mountain, Henry, Snow Creek, Rocky Mount, Bassett, Collinsville, Dyers Store, Fieldale, Henry County, Franklin County Public Safety and the Bassett Rescue Squad.

Additional crews and manpower had to be called in to help as the fire grew.

VDOT blocked one northbound lane of 220 while crews worked to get the fire under control.
