Elderly Martinsville Man Dies in Henry Co. Crash


HENRY COUNTY – An 87-year-old Martinsville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday (Mar. 15), state police say.
Charlie Junior Phillips was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus south on Route 1720 when the car ran off the left side of the road and continued down an embankment before crashing into a concrete storm drain.
Phillips was wearing his seat belt. He died at the scene.
The crash happened Friday at 10:30 a.m. just north of Route 58 and remains under investigation.
