7-Year-Old Killed After Being Ejected During Crash on 220 in Henry County
HENRY COUNTY – The 7-year-old female passenger of a truck involved in a crash Thursday (Mar. 14) died after being thrown from the vehicle, state police say.
The single vehicle crash happened at 3:39 p.m. Thursday when a 1990 Ford Ranger ran off the left side of the southbound lanes of 220, hitting and flying over the guardrail, according to investigators.
The 40-year-old woman driving the truck was not wearing her seat belt and was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries. The girl was wearing her seat belt, but was still ejected, state police say. She was taken to Martinsville SOVAH Health where she later died.
There are no charges at this time, but the crash remains under investigation.
