ROANOKE, Va. — Ferrum College wrestlers Levi Englman and Mario Vasquez wrapped up action at the 2019 NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships Saturday, March 9, at the Berglund Center.
Ferrum served as host institution for the championships, the first time an NCAA Div. III Wrestling Tournament has even been held in the state of Virginia. It was also the first time Ferrum has hosted an NCAA national championship in any sport.
A freshman from Stafford, Virginia, Englmen finished seventh. Vasquez, a junior from Amarillo, Texas, finished eighth. Both earned All-America and are only the third and fourth wrestlers to earn such honors in the six-year history of Ferrum’s mat program. As a team, the Panthers scored 14.5 points to place 27th in a field of 74 teams.
