Panthers Post 5-0 Baseball Shutout Over Averett

FERRUM, Va. — Tim Ortega went 4-4 with a double and a solo home run, scored two runs and drove in a pair as Ferrum College posted a 5-0 non-conference baseball win over Averett University this afternoon at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Ortega’s double in the fourth inning drove in Ferrum’s first run. Kyle Anstice then had an RBI single and Jake Mumpower had a sacrifice fly later in the frame to score two more and put Ferrum out in front 3-0.
Parker Mason‘s RBI double to left center in the seventh inning drove in another run, then Ortega blasted a solo shot over the left field fence in the eighth to close out scoring. Starter Drew Calohan got the win, scattering four hits over eight innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
