Paul Edward McMullen, age 87 of Wirtz was born in Granogue, DE in 1937 and grew up in McDaniel Heights, Talleyville, DE. He graduated from Brown Vo-Tech School in 1957 and served in the Army National Guard for six years and was active Army during the Cuban Crisis in 1961 while John F. Kennedy was President. Paul retired from General Motors in Wilmington, Delaware in 1993 after 30+ years of service. He was married to Anna M. McMullen for 56 years and moved to Wirtz, VA in 1997 where he resided until his death. 

Mr. McMullen was born to the late Ruth Ellen Gehr McMullen and Daniel Webster McMullen.

Along with his wife, surviving are his two daughters, Valerie A. McMullen Rivas (Mrs. Edwin) of Union Hall and Rebecca E. McMullen Fisher (Mrs. Michael) of Wirtz; five grandchildren, Chrystal Lynn Casson of Vinton, Brandon Marcus Casson of Union Hall, Caitlynn Ann Fisher, Anna Marie Fisher and David Michael Fisher all of Wirtz; great-grandchildren, Amiyaa Rose Fisher of Wirtz, Ronan Marcus-Lee Hunter, Nioh James Hunter, Serenity Pamela Wilson and Kiyre Deshawn Wilson; and sisters, Rebecca Hansel of Bel Air, MD and Rose McMullen of Delaware.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McMullen was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen and Earl D. McMullen; brothers-in-law, Arley H. Morgan, Howard D. Hansel and Ray Mitchell; along with his sister-in-law, Etta L. Mitchell.

Mr. McMullen loved his church and church family, Living Waters Assembly of God on Doe Run Road in Rocky Mount where he and his wife did many home and hospital visitations. His one request is that you not mourn for him. He is now resting in the arms of Jesus and would want you to rejoice with him.

Funeral services will be conducted from Living Waters Assembly of God 12 noon Friday, November 8, 2024 with Pastor Allen Cogar officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
