Cruisin’ Rocky Mount Date Set for April 4

ROCKY MOUNT – The first date of the extremely popular “Cruisin’ Rocky Mount” event will be April 4, organizers say. Anyone with an old or new vehicle is encouraged to cruise the streets of Rocky Mount between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

“The overall objective of Cruisin’ Rocky Mount is to get people cruising our beautiful town,” Jeff Rakes said in a Facebook post to the Cruisin’ Rocky Mount Facebook Group. “Parking and talking is great to shoot the breeze with friends, but we encourage everyone to cruise.”

Vendors will be on hand in the Schewels parking lot.

Before cruising, you can here local music and celebrate Franklin County’s moonshine heritage the same afternoon at 3 p.m.

The event will coincide with “Cars, Cornbread, and Conversation” at the Rocky Mount Farmer’s Market in honor of April’s Moonshine Heritage Month from 3-7 p.m. The event is presented in conjunction with the Community Partnership for Franklin County.

There will be several local bands playing live music at the Farmer’s Market. The Promise Land Band will be playing at 3 p.m. followed by Cheyenne & Wyatt at 4 p.m. The Walker Sisters play at 5 p.m. followed by the Twin Creeks String Band at 6 p.m.

Local moonshiners Henry Low from Law’s Choice Distillery and Chris Prillaman from Twin Creeks Distillery will be on hand.

T-Shirt sales and a 50/50 drawing will also be at the Farmer’s Market as part of the day’s festivities.
