One Lane of 220 South Closed in Franklin Co. from Drainage Issues

FRANKLIN COUNTY – VDOT says the left southbound lane of 220 at Route 956 (Redbud Hill Road) north of Rocky Mount is closed due to a damaged drainage pipe beneath the median.

The pipe has settled due to recent rainfall casing a depression in the pavement in the southbound left lane of Route 220.

Rainfall in Franklin County averaged between 2-3″ Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The left lane will remain closed overnight and into Monday, Oct. 28, as the Virginia Department of Transportation continues to assess the damage and schedules additional repairs.
