Erosion Concerns Halt Pipeline Construction... For Now

Written by Jamey Singleton. Posted in News

pipelineFRANKLIN COUNTY - Construction on the Mountain Valley Pipeline has stopped for now across all of Virginia.

A statement on the Mountain Valley website says the move is temporary after concerns over soil erosion and sediment controls.

"After direct consultation with VDEQ, and in light of the recent extraordinary rainfall experienced in Virginia, we have agreed to temporarily suspend pipeline installations activities, including welding, trenching, and stringing of pipe, in Virginia," the statement says.

MVP goes on to say that it will continue to work with the VDEQ to find a time to resume construction on the pipeline.
