YMCA to Host Family Bingo Night Fundraiser Dec. 8

ymca1ROCKY MOUNT - The Franklin County Family YMCA will be hosting a family Bingo night at its Rocky Mount location, to raise funds for all programs that benefit the community. Cash prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

The event will be held on December 8th, from 6:30- 9:30 PM. A total of 20 games will be played with a total payout of $2,500. Tickets are being sold in advance for $20 each at the YMCA. Each ticket includes chances for each game played throughout the night.

“It’s important for the YMCA to host fundraising events in order to support its mission of strengthening the community. So, the focus of this event is to create a fun family atmosphere and raise funds for the YMCA’s mission,” says Kameron Kitts Aquatics Director at the YMCA.

The bingo fundraiser is part of an effort by the aquatics team to raise money to help pay for upcoming operating costs and pool equipment upgrades. The YMCA aquatics facility is home to the YMCA Riptide swim team, the FCHS swim team, the YMCA’s 2nd grade swim program, senior water exercise, community swim lessons and much more.


Come Home to a Franklin Co. Christmas Set for Friday

christmas-posterROCKY MOUNT - This year's Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas will be held Friday, December 2 in Rocky Mount. 

Organized by the Community Partnership for Revitalization (CPR), the 13th annual event will feature Christmas-themed activities, booths, and performances throughout town.

The night starts with a parade at 5:30 p.m. There will be activities for kids at the train depot, along with Santa Claus. Horse and buggy rides will be available along with live music and dancing at the Harvester Performance Center, where the Dry Hill Draggers will perform. 

Festivities will continue through 9 p.m. The event is free.

Barenaked Ladies Coming to Rocky Mount's Harvester Performance Center

BNL-ImageROCKY MOUNT - The Barenaked Ladies have announced a Spring 2017 tour that includes a stop in Rocky Mount.

The Harvester Performance Center says the band will perform Tuesday May 2, 2017. 

The multi-platinum band's hits include "One Week", "Pinch Me", and "Brian Wilson" along with many others spanning the 90's into the 2000's. Barenaked Ladies released BNL Rocks Red Rocks in May.
