JoycennWaidJoyce Ann Waid, age 83 of Rocky Mount passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lucy Truman; two brothers, Sherman Truman, and Eldridge Truman; one sister, Kathleen St. Clair. Joyce is survived by her husband, Curtis Waid; her children, Brenda Hedrick (Donald), Goldie Brown (Gary), Sharon Faye Greer (Stevie), David Frankie Waid, (Melisa Richards), Lisa Diane Waid (Lisa Persinger); nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; special friends, Jennette and Tom Pipenhagan, Emily
Sue Wise, Brenda and Rachel Davis; special niece and nephew, Sheila Truman Angle and Donald Wayne Truman. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 with Pastor Roger Jones and Rev. Denver Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Hodges-Waid Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.

Linda Mae Dillon

lindadillonLinda Mae Dillon, age 72 of Rocky Mount went to be with Jesus, surrounded by her family on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Oscar and Ruthie Cundiff. She is survived by her daughter and favorite son-in- law, Tammy and HT Smith; her special grandchildren, Carly Mae and Philip Tyler Smith; her sweet loving protector, Frodo; sister and brother-in- law, Margaret and Allen Morris; brother and sister-in- law, Bill and Voleria Cundiff; nieces, Karen Morris and Melanie Hancock; nephew, Doug Cundiff (Betty); great nieces, Samantha and Amber Hancock, and Jace Cundiff; great nephew, Seth Cundiff; great-great nephews and niece, Malachi, Christopher, and Emersyn; and many cousins; also survived by special friends, Kim Roberts, Gaye Beeghly, Brenda Cundiff, and her best friend and coffee buddy, Joann Hodges. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Lighthouse Baptist Church. A private family graveside service will be held. Tommy Lee English

TommyEnglishTommy Lee English, age 71 of Rocky Mount, died Friday morning, April 13, 2018. He was born April 8, 1947, son of the late Leroy and
Polly Worley English. He served in the National Guard and retired from Ingersoll-Rand. His life pleasures were NASCAR, UVa Sports,
trips to the beach and cheering the grandkids in Little League and dance. Surviving are his son, Steve English (Julie), daughter, Jennifer
Call, grandchildren, Will, Lili, Harmon and Gary, sisters, Ella Sue Roche (John), Fran Kinneberg (Rob), mother of his children, Janice
Thurman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. His
family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.

Nina B. Flora

Nina B. Flora died April 6, 2018. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren where she attended faithfully while her health allowed. Nina loved children including those she tended in the church nursery and especially her three generations of nieces and nephews. Born to Edgar and Margie Peters Flora on October 30, 1932, Nina was reared on the family farm where she maintained residence until 2014. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd and Ernest Flora, and her sister, Cleo Flora. She is survived by her brother, Norman (Lois) Flora, sister Lorene (Melvin) Wood, and sister-in- law Maybelle Flora. Nina retired from Shenandoah Life Insurance Company where she worked for years while managing a thriving Avon business on the side. Nina enjoyed visiting her customers as she delivered their orders. A celebration of life led by Pastor Bill Hinton will be held at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, April 11, at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family an hour in advance of the service. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, 4250 Bethlehem Road, Boones Mill, VA, 24065. The family is thankful for the loving care provided to Nina during the last four years by the staff of Red Oak Manor. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.

Ann Lyon Cannaday, 88, joined her beloved late husband, Willard H. (Bill) Cannaday, in heaven today. She is survived by her devoted son,
Mark (Diane) Cannaday Boones Mill; loving daughter, Christie Lawrence, Boones Mill; best friend’s/sisters Judy Harless, Vinton, and
Nancy Custer, Roanoke; brother Steve Lyon, Roanoke, sister-in- law Louise (Robert) Lyon; granddaughters Carrie Cannaday, Bristol, VA,
Crystal Cannaday Young (Ben), Ashburn, VA, Jenny Cannaday Jones (Tyler), Rocky Mount; former daughter-in- law Nancy Johnson (Hardy); step-granddaughters Kaitlyn O’Malley Tinder (Chris) Sonoma, CA and Kendall O’Malley, Santa Barbara, CA; her beautiful great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends Audrey Maxey, Bevelyne Prillaman and Hylas and Barbara Brown. She was preceded in death by brothers James ‘Jimmy’ Lyons (Roanoke) and Bobby Lyons (Glen Burnie, MD) and sister Lois McBride, sister-in- law Glenda Lyon, brother-in- law Richard Harless
and brother-in- law Mark Custer. Ann truly loved her work at Franklin County Farm Bureau for 40+ years where she made many life long friends and acquaintances. Her job was office manager, but she was always dedicated to serving the Farm Bureau members, even after she retired. Special thanks to all of Ann’s dear friends and her loving Piedmont Presbyterian Church family for their cards, visits, and prayers. In her final months, the family was blessed, as Ann was cared for by several amazing caregivers and the sweet nurses of Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Chapel .Interment will follow in Callaway Community Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
