Elmer Cecil Johnson, Jr.,

Elmer Cecil Johnson, Jr., age 64 of Bedford died Monday, May 25, 2015 as a result of an automobile accident. He was a loving and kind father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend. He loved traveling, boating, fishing, the ocean and seafood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Cecil Johnson, Sr. and Oakey Ann Austin Johnson, brothers, Paul K. Johnson, Douglas L. Johnson; sister, Betty Johnson; sisters-in-law, Lucy Johnson and Nancy Johnson. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Johnson III and Jody; daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany McGuire and Jonathan; grandchildren, Autumn and Logan McGuire; mother of his children, Sue and her daughter Desiree’ Hamm; brothers, Ronald K. Johnson (Linda), Phillip Johnson (Edna); numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park at Holy Land USA (Bedford) 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 with Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount - Smith Mountain Lake.

Paul Henry Wright

Paul Henry Wright, age 65 of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and AlianWright; sister, Betty Midkiff; and brothers, Ernest, Roy, J.B., and Reed Wright. Surviving are his brothers, Coy and Fred Wright; sisters, Jean Lovingood and Myrtle Midkiff; brothers-in-law, Troy Midkiff and Carl Lovingood; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Burrus Home, 850 Scuffling Hill Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.

Cale David

Cale David, age 45 of Penhook, passed away May 14, 2015. Cale leaves behind a loving wife, Jean Woods David; son, Justin Cale David(Bethany); daughter, Kayla Jean David and her friend Andrew Brooks; mother, Sylvia Speck David; brother, Tommy David (Shirley); sister, Sherry Jones, (Greg); in-laws, Maxie Woods (Ethel), James Woods, Kay Chitwood (Jeff); nieces and nephews, Jessica and Jay Chitwood, Amanda and Amber Woods, Arianna Adkins, Dena Custer (Doug) and Caley Custer, many aunts, uncles and cousins, specila family and friends, Jeremy Pickeral, Kevin and Candis Hunt, Dale Wright and Mike Bowie. He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Thomas David; grandparents, Emmett and Mae David, Bud and Katherine Speck, nephew, A.J. Woods; special aunt and uncle Raymond and Douglas David. Cale worked for MW/PlyGem Windows for 26 years, in various job positions, currently Field Service Manager. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and co-workers.

Visitation will be with Flora Funeral Service Monday, May 18, 2015, from 6 til 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.

Gordon C. Willis, Jr. (Bo)

Gordon C. Willis, Jr. (Bo), age 65 of Penhook died suddenly on Friday, May 15, 2015. He leaves his wife Cynthia Simms Willis and two children Peige Willis Rose (Harry) and Gordon C. Willis III (Sabrene`). He also leaves two stepsons, Patrick Gardner, Anthony Gardner (Tracey) and eight precious grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon C. Willis, Sr. and wife Jean, Julia Garrett and step-father, Olin Garrett. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on September 1, 1949, Bo worked alongside his father and son at their family owned business, Rockydale Quarries and Old Heritidge Corp. in Roanoke and retired after 37 years where he was President and CEO of the Companys. In the years that followed, Bo enjoyed many passions…. his love for the outdoors and nature, hunting, farming, his canine companion, Carmen and the love of his life and best friend, Cynthia. Whenever you saw one you saw both, they truly loved every minute they shared together. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends and family will gather afterwards at Water’s Edge Country Club.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. Rosemary HodgesRosemary Lynn Kirk Hodges, age 68 formerly of Hardy went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 13, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morton Lee Hodges, Jr.; and father, Emerson Kirk. Surviving are her mother, Nellie Perdue Kirk; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Jaime Hodges, Ben and Tammy Hodges; grandchildren, Kathryn Hodges, Joshua Hodges, Taylor Wright, Timothy Hodges, Grace Hodges, Emily Hodges, Naomi Hodges, Dakota Vaughan, Rose Hodges, Asher Hodges, Callie Hodges, Esther Hodges; and good family friends, Walter McEachern and Kaylee Meadows. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Joseph Pjecha and Rev. David Fraser officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodges Family Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Faith Alliance Church or Vinton Wesleyan Church.
