United Way's 'Shine and Dine' Returning in April

mooonshineEnjoy the proud heritage of moonshine making in Franklin County with two days of great music, activities and tastings at the Franklin County Moonshine Festival. Below is an early schedule of events along with links for registration and information. Hope to see you there!
Friday, April 22 (6-10 pm)
* Outdoor concert at Early Inn featuring Dry Hill Draggers and Jr. Sisk & Ramblers Choice. Tickets available via the Harvester Performance Center. HARVESTER PERFORMANCE CENTER
* An optional $15 tasting ticket will be available at the door
* Bartender Mixology contest
* Bowling's Hot dogs, Bootleggers' Café food available for purchase
* Wine/beer and water available for purchase

Saturday, April 23 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) 
* Chug for the Jug RaceREGISTER HERE
* Vendors in Farmer's Market downtown Rocky Mount across from the Harvester Performance Center
* Moonshine Car Show
* Storytelling
* Demonstrations, exhibits, moonshine stories reenactments
* A schedule will be released prior to the event

Saturday, April 23 (6:30 - 10:30 p.m.)
* Shine 'n Dine local foods and moonshine tasting event under the stars at Early Inn
* Live music, dancing
* Unique auction
* Featured cocktail of Friday night's bartender mixology challenge
* Shuttles available
* Date night for a great cause

'Full Pond Day' at SML Highlights Lake's 50th Anniversary

logo-50MONETA - Fifty years ago, on March 7, 1966, Smith Mountain Lake reached full pond. The Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the anniversary with a variety of events. Below is an outline of what's in store...

Objective: Hold a celebratory event to mark the 50th anniversary of Smith Mountain Lake reaching “full pond” for the first time 50 years ago (March 7, 1966).

Date/Time: Mon., March 7, 2016, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Venue: Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Discovery Center, 2679 Interpretive Trail, Huddleston

Invited guests: Federal, state and county officials, Va. Department of Historic Resources, 50th Anniversary Steering and Historic Committees, media and community members.
