UPDATE: State Police ID Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

SCRUGGS - State Police say a Moneta man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday evening in the Scruggs area of Franklin County.

Brent Carrington Law, 29, of Moneta died at the scene, police say.

Law was driving a 2013 Suzuki GSXR 1000 traveling east on Route 616 when the motorcycle crossed the center line, hitting a Ford van head-on, police say.

The van's driver and a passenger were hurt in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital.

Speed is believed to be a factor, according to Sgt. Rick Garletts. Law was wearing a helmet. The crash happened a half mile east of Route 942.  

The crash remains under investigation. The State Police Crash Reconstruction Team assisted in the crash investigation.

SCRUGGS - Virginia State Police say they are investigating a fatal accident in the Scruggs area of Franklin County Thursday night.

Early results of the investigation show the motorcycle crossed the center line of the roadway, hitting a van head-on, police say. 

The crash happend at 6:46 p.m.

The victim's name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
