Martinsville Woman Killed in Head-On Crash Sunday

henrycountfaaatalHENRY CO. - Virginia State Police say a woman was killed and two people were injured following a head-on crash Sunday night in Henry County.

According to police, a 2009 Honda Civic was traveling west on Route 57 when the car suddenly crossed the center line and hit a 2014 Chevy Equinox traveling east.

The driver of the Honda, Heather Ivey, 32, of Martinsville died at the scene, state police said. She was not wearing her seatbelt.

A passenger in the Honda, Brandon Heath, 32 was taken to the hospital for injuries. Heath was wearing his seatbelt.

Tre Jackson, 26, of Martinsville was driving the Chevy that was hit. Jackson was wearing his seatbelt and was injured from the impact. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, state police say.

The Virginia State Police Reconstruction Team was on hand to assist in the crash investigation.

The crash happened at 10:36 p.m. Sunday, January 6, a quarter mile west of Route 720 in Henry County.
