ROCKY MOUNT - The Franklin County Family YMCA Riptide swim team kicked its season off with a big invitational at the Jamerson Family YMCA in
Lynchburg. This large local meet had many area YMCA swim teams participating and was part of a YMCA Virtual swim meet. All YMCA’s across the country who hosted a swim meet that over the weekend were eligible to send results into the YMCA virtual swim meet. The virtual meet makes it possible for Franklin County Family Y swimmers to swim against competitors from all over the country.
“The Riptide swim team did great at our season opener in Lynchburg. We saw many big time improvements and even had two swimmers make two Regional cut times each. I couldn’t be more proud of the team and all the hard work they have put into the program,” said Head Coach JT Boyd.
The two swimmers who made regional cut times were, Mallorie Teer and Gabe Lester. Regional cut times are qualification times that swimmers must beat to be eligible to compete in the big end of the season regional swim meet. The Franklin County Family YMCA Riptide swim team has a home meet 11/03/18 that starts at 9:00 AM and invites all to come cheer on your local YMCA kids as they compete against Bedford, Altavista, Eden,
and Farmville YMCA swim teams.
