Rocky Mount, Va. (September 6, 2018) – The Franklin County Family YMCA announced today that a long time member and class participant Abigail Jamison has become the Y’s new Group Exercise Coordinator taking over the role from Jessica Mitchell.
“I have loved getting to know the members of the Y over the course of the past year as an instructor, and look forward to furthering those relationships. I have worked at many different gyms, and can honestly say this is my favorite because of the people. I am excited about expanding our group exercise programs, getting new instructors in, and making this program the best that it can be. There is nothing as exciting as seeing someone realize their full potential through exercise! I have HUGE shoes to fill, and am thankful for all the support I’ve received from everyone here and from the outgoing fitness coordinator, Jessica Mitchell,” says Abigail Jamison.
Abby started her fitness journey years ago as a personal trainer, but quickly realized group ex was where her passion lies. She currently holds certifications in cycle, sports yoga and Beachbody’s P90X. She has competed in a few Crossfit competitions and currently competed in obstacle course races with her husband and closest friends. Abby holds degrees from Liberty University in both Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies and is currently completing her Master’s studies in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
The position consists of managing around 50 classes a week, as well as coordinating special events and programs for YMCA members. The Y’s group exercise classes are offered weekly at no additional charge to all YMCA members. Classes include Insanity, Yoga, Stronger Seniors, P90x and HIIT training.
