FORK MOUNTAIN - State police are investigating a crash that killed a Bassett woman Tuesday afternoon.
A 1987 Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on Fork Mountain Road when it failed to stop and pulled into the path of an oncoming Volvo tractor trailer. The Jeep was hit by the tractor trailer and overturned, state police say.
The driver of the Jeep, Angela Martin, 68, of Bassett died at the scene. Martin was improperly restrained at the time of the crash, only wearing the lap belt but not the shoulder belt. A 7-year-old in the Jeep was not injured.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Ralph Elio, 65, of North Babylon, NY was not injured.
No charges are expected. The crash remains under investigation.
