ymca37ROCKY MOUNT - The Franklin County Family YMCA will be offering American Red Cross safety courses this summer. Among these are babysitter training and adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid, AED.

“It is so important for our community to have access to classes that teach the crucial lifesaving skills of CPR and first aid. We are especially excited to offer the babysitter training program,” says JT Boyd the program’s instructor.

In an emergency situation requiring CPR the person in need will most likely be someone you know. This could be your spouse, your child, your parents, or a friend. According to the American Heart Association 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in home and of that only 46% get the immediate help they need before EMS arrives.

Learning CPR is a critical safety skill that can save someone’s life, maybe even the life of a loved one. The babysitter training course is offered to kids 11 years old and up. They will learn essential techniques in child watching, including how to handle behavioral and emergency situations. They will gain the confidence they need to be exemplary babysitters.
