Harvester Closes Doors For the Rest of 2020

ROCKY MOUNT – The Harvester Performance Center announced that it will be closing for the remainder of the year after COVID-19 restrictions forced the venue to come up with alternative ways to bring musical acts to Rocky Mount in March.

After live streaming more than 20 shows during the spring, the Harvester hosted seven “Outdoor Series” shows at the Rocky Mount Farmer’s Market, drawing some criticism from market supporters and vendors who said they weren’t consulted about a large stage, fencing, and equipment taking up some of the market space.

As COVID-19 cases surged once again this summer, several acts have cancelled their tours for the time being.

“The pandemic continues to disrupt our lives and threaten our health. So after careful consideration and much deliberation, we have decided to take another pause to protect the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, artists, fans, and the broader community. Atlanta Rhythm Section’s performance July 25 was the last for the Harvester for the 2020 season,” the venue said in an e-mail Tuesday.

The Harvester says nearly all shows from 2020 have already been rescheduled to new dates.

“We want to express our sincere appreciation to our fans and to the Town of Rocky Mount for supporting our efforts. Thank you to the artists who took a chance on Harvester Outdoors. And thank you to our staff and volunteers for their ideas, flexibility and dedication to the Harvester. We couldn’t have pulled this off without any of you,” the e-mail announcement said.
