WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina — The Ferrum College softball team closed out its spring break trip with two non-conference losses on the road at Salem College Sunday afternoon. The Spirits took game one 4-0 and used a walk-off double from Miranda Barker in the night cap to best the Panthers 3-2 to complete the sweep.

RECORDS
Ferrum (10-3)
Salem (7-5)

THE BASICS
It was all Spirits in game one as Kayla Ogle was elite in the circle for Salem, holding Ferrum scoreless and limiting the Panther offense to just five hits. The third inning proved to be the only inning of offense for either team, as Salem score all four runs in the frame. Madison Thomas was the first to score on a miscue by the Panthers. Brianne Coleman would then plate two with a double and Madison Burch would cap the inning off with a single, scoring Coleman.

Game two saw the Panthers jump out to the early lead in the top of the third inning. Bayley Cunningham scored Keri Hamlett with a single and Ferrum would lead 1-0 through three complete. Salem would answer right back in the fourth inning as Brittany Morton would double, scoring Jessica Cummings. The Spirits would then take the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a Madison Burch double, scoring Madison Thomas.

The Panthers would need to score in their half of the seventh inning to keep the game alive, and that is just what they did. Arielle Eure would single to right field, scoring Allison McGehee. Salem would again answer the call as Barker would double to right field, scoring Amanda Dacunto and winning the night cap in walk-off fashion.
