UPDATE: Rocky Mount Man Found Safe

UPDATE: Rocky Mount Police say Jamey Smith has been located safe and reunited with his family.

ROCKY MOUNT – Jessica Spence says she and her family are trying their best to remain positive as she and her family, along with Rocky Mount Police, continue to actively look for her 41-year-old brother Jamey Scott of Rocky Mount.

“He is a brother, a son, a grandson, and deserves to be brought home safe,” Spence said in an message with Cable 12 tonight.

Scott was last seen over a week ago on September 24 in Rocky Mount. He told his mother he was going to Roanoke, driving a 2005 gold or champagne colored Toyota Camry, and hasn’t been heard from since. The car has a dent on the passenger side and two missing hubcaps in the front with Virginia license plate VSX-9448, similar to the car pictured.

Investigators and family are especially concerned for Scott’s well-being because he has a medical condition that requires daily medication that Scott does not have with him.

There has been no mention of foul play by official law enforcement sources, but Scott’s aunt said foul play was suspected in a Facebook post dated Wednesday.

The Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating Scott’s disappearance and began an active social media campaign Wednesday on their Facebook Page.

Officers also distributed and hung up printed flyers with the information throughout the community Wednesday afternoon. Investigators are taking tips at 540-483-9275 or e-mail via the department’s new anonymous tip e-mail at [email protected].

Spence says she will also take any anonymous information or tips herself, no matter how big or small, especially if folks have a comfort issue talking with authorities. You can reach her at 540-488-4845 or private message her Facebook page.

Scott was last seen wearing a white button up shirt with jeans. He is 5’10” with green eyes and brown hair with some gray color. He weighs around 135 pounds.

“We are trying to stay strong as we await answers,” Spence said. “I’m very concerned.”
