Rocky Mount, VA – Week 2 was full of highs and lows in the Blue Ridge District with Lord Botetourt and William Fleming remaining unbeaten, Northside picking up their first win, Franklin County and William Byrd picking up their first loss, and Staunton River continuing to look for their first win.

With district play still 3 games away, the Blue Ridge District standings are continuing to shake out but the season is still early.

Lord Botetourt (2-0) has used a tough defense giving up just 8 points per game to claim the #1 spot just ahead of William Fleming (2-0) who has used a high flying offense averaging 40 ppg to remain perfect.

Franklin County (1-1), Northside (1-1) , and Byrd (1-1) all sit at 1-1 on the season. Franklin County shutout Liberty in Week 1, 28-0, but fell just short of taking down Salem 27-21. The Eagles bolster the #2 offense (24.5 ppg) and defense (13.5) in the district after 2 weeks.

Northside picked up it’s first win of the season on Friday, 32-13 over Cave Spring, after being shutout in Week 1 by Pulaski, 14-0.

Byrd also picked up a convincing win over Cave Spring in Week 1, 42-21, but couldn’t keep the momentum going into Week 2 against Hidden Valley losing 22-7.

Staunton River is continuing to struggle riding a 13 game losing streak that dates back to their 2017 3A State Semifinal loss to Heritage. The Golden Eagles are giving up 35 points per game defensively and have been held to just 3 offensive TD’s on the season.
