Frank Franklin Hackett

Frank Franklin Hackett was born March 29, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA. He died at home on May 23, 2019. He is survived by his wife Diana of nearly 45 years, his son, Jefferson, daughter Laura, and nephew Robert Pound. Frank registered for the U. S. Marine Corps just before his 18th birthday. He found himself in Korea with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Division for the Invasion of Inchon and fought his way down from the Chosin Reservoir. Frank received several Purple Heart medals, the Silver Star and the Legion of Merit medals during his military service. Frank moved to Virginia in 1973, found his second wife and raised his two kids by his second marriage in the Northern Virginia area. He and his wife moved to Franklin County in 2004. Red Valley UMC became his church home, and he loved nothing better than making spaghetti and meatballs and coconut pies for his church family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Red Valley UMC Endowment Fund or the American Cancer Society. Services will be held at Red Valley UMC, Saturday, June 8th, Visitation at 1 PM and Celebration of Life with interment at Red Valley Cemetery at 2 PM. Fellowship in the Social Hall for ALL after the interment. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
