Suicidal Man Wielding Handgun Taken into Custody in Burnt Chimney

BURNT CHIMNEY – A suicidal man yielding a handgun was taken into custody and transported for mental health evaluation following a two-hour standoff with deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, according to Captain Phillip Young.

At no point was the gun pointed in the direction of the deputies, Young said.

Deputies responded to a call about a suicidal male subject in the 400 block of Burnt Chimney road just before 6 p.m. The man was taken into custody shortly after 8 p.m., Young said.
