Town Council to Discuss Inoperable Vehicle Code and Enforcement

Current Town Code on Inoperable Vehicles

ROCKY MOUNT – Tomorrow night at their monthly meeting, the Rocky Mount Town Council will address the current town code on inoperable vehicles and discuss possible improvements to said code.

On Rise and Shine Franklin County, Town Manager James Ervin indicated that the town has enforced the code on a complaint basis for the past three decades.

Ervin went on to emphasize that the town has not made any changes to its current code but are looking for public input on how to enforce it better.

“We are not doing anything, lets start with that,” said Ervin, “We are having a dialog. We are trying to say, what do you think?”

Ervin also indicated that his office has received 52 inoperable vehicle complaints, filed by the same individual, since January of this year which is more than the last 20 years combined.
